I don’t mean to be cheeky, but I suspect if Jesus had started his Sermon on the Mount
with the words we just heard he would have had few if any disciples. And if he did have
one or two, they might well have been the kind of people who thought they were pretty
close to perfect already. People who think their already perfect — at least in the common
usage of the word — do not make good disciples. ...
